Short Bio

Graduated in Anthropology (ULg, 2013), Fanny recently began a PhD research within the SPIRAL Research Center and the Laboratory of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Liege. Drawing on Science and Technology Studies and Anthropology of Health and Illness, it aims to study some Belgian patients’ organizations’ involvement in public issues related to hereditary genetic diseases within the health care system as currently reshaped by medical genomic innovations. This mainly focuses on the construction of the “medical evidence”, understood not only as relating to scientific facts but
also as including the patients' and their relatives’ representations and lived experiences of health and disease.
